In conjunction with the NZ Army trailride at the Tekapo training grounds.

The Plan:

Friday night assembly at Lake Tekapo Holiday Park with a ride welcome and briefing.

KTM Tour of Duty Itinerary. (Provisional routes)

Friday January 21st. Lake Tekapo Holiday Park.

Sat :: Day 1. Ride to and join with the NZ Army Tekapo Training ground annual trail ride. Vast area of pre marked trails over a wide range of terrain to be enjoyed at the riders pleasure. Overnight accommodation again at Lake Tekapo Holiday Park.

Sun :: Day 2. Load up the High Country Trailer with any luggage and yourself onto your bike and off down the Tekapo River track towards and into the mountain ranges on the border of Canterbury and Central Otago. Great trails and even greater views before dropping down for our overnight in the haunted mining hamlet of St Bathans.

Mon :: Day 3. Into the high mountains and valleys of Central Otago and some of our favourite trails before dropping and it is a big drop into our overnight destination of Alexandra.

Tue :: Day 4. A long day spent riding east then north along the flowing tussock ridges of the Maniototo region, not quite so high as previous days but expensive views nonetheless of a big part of the Otago hinterland coupled with quaint glimpses of the regions early history.

days end will find us at the ice capital of Naseby.

Wed :: Day 5. A long and memorable day to finish as the tour heads north into the higher mountains again and the big station country of the upper Waitaki valley before we descend back into the MacKenzie Basin and make our way back up the once mighty Pukaki river valley to the tours end back at Tekapo.

Overnight destinations and route plans are provisional only and High Country Trail reserve the right to alter our plans to allow for accommodation constraints, landowner requirements or whatever

Five diverse days riding with the best trails you’ll ever rotate a wheel on and certainly some of the best scenery.

Fully supported and guided with Joe Forsyth assisting. Includes all ride day meals, accommodation on a share twin basis, luggage transport and back up vehicle.

All fuel on the basis that you arrive full and we keep it full.
