High Country Trail offers trail bike and adventure motorcyclists tours and training in the South Island of New Zealand. We have access to a wide range of trails in the mountain ranges and high plains of South Canterbury, Southland and Central Otago from our Alexandra base.

Highlights and trails include the areas surrounding Queenstown, Wanaka, Cromwell, the Ida Valley, the vast Maniototo, the Kakanui Mountains, the Waitaki Valley, the mountains surrounding Lake Benmore and the McKenzie Basin.

A World of Difference: High Country Trail employs experienced, trained, friendly riders from all over New Zealand to guide and support you on your high country adventure through the South Islands gold trails, vast sheep stations and high mountain peaks and passes. The skills of our guides sets us apart and give our guests the confidence to really enjoy the whole tour package especially the hospitality and warmth of the welcome.

Be prepared to climb high into the mountains, ford clear streams, ride along flowing tussock lined trails, master rocky ridges and at days end and daybreak enjoy sumptuous meals prepared often by the people of the land you are riding over.

Be prepared for the riding experience of a lifetime.

You will find out why High Country Trail choose to ride the unmatched KTM motorcycles including the EXC range of Enduro fame, the exceptional new 690 all rounder or on the more open dual sport events the fantastic 990 Adventures. The KTM company and the regional dealers stand firmly behind High Country Trail at each and every event.

Our trail tours also include our unique low numbers format with a maximum of 14 riders ensuring everyone is included and our much valued landowners are happy also. You will appreciate less time waiting and more time riding. Check that package out. The opposition doesn't even get close. Even adventure tours have restricted numbers simply to maximise the enjoyment factor for everyone.

Package tours include: gst, the arrival night and all meals, twin share accommodation (single room supplement available on request), fuel (start full), fire extinguisher, ride shirt and welcome pack, cd-rom of ride pics, support vehicle and gear transport, DoC & land access fees, sun, rain, maybe snow, definitely rocks and the best time on 2 wheels you’ll ever have!
We recommend travel insurance for overseas and local riders.

High Country Trail has been in operation with minimal staff changes since 1999 assisting visitors from all over NZ and the world to enjoy the fantastic South Island backcountry.

Again we are unique in meeting or exceeding Dept of Conservation requirements, local government consents and enjoy a great relationship with very many landowners and local community groups. Our staff also receive regular training in all aspects of the company operation meaning High Country Trail can be and certainly is justifiably proud of it's staff.

Please note that especially in the case of the Trail tours we have a very short window of opportunity of only approximately 8 weeks. Respect for our landowners mean we only offer a limited number of tours in any event...

We can organise special interest trips or cater for groups and very low numbers but our available dates are limited.
